Components and function

Co-axial design: A fresh gas tube runs through the inside of the outer expiratory tube, from the anesthesia machine to the patient's airway.
Fresh gas flow: High fresh gas flow is supplied, which helps to "wash" the exhaled carbon dioxide out of the circuit and is critical for its function.
Expiration: The patient breathes in fresh gas from the inner tube and exhales into the outer tube.
Expiratory valve: This valve is at the end of the circuit, which helps to control the pressure and allows for the removal of waste gases.

Reservoir bag: An antistatic reservoir bag is included to allow for manual ventilation and to help monitor the patient's breathing.
